Door knocking offers a direct and personal connection between candidates and voters. It allows candidates and their representatives to engage in meaningful conversations, address concerns, and build trust with constituents.
I have personally been a door knocker in two campaigns and found it to be a rewarding experience. It is a confidence builder and it gets easier with repetition. I found that if you survey the yard/vehicle for keys to the occupants interests, you can find common ground in our conservative agenda to begin the conversation. Once I knock on the door or ring the doorbell, I step at least 6-10 feet away from the door and wait a minute. I always state my name, that I am an unpaid volunteer, and I am concerned about our country's future.
